Welcome to the Igo family website! Just a chance to catch up with what's going on and to share some photos.
Connor and SPHS classmate Mike K. went to the US Naval Academy for a week-long summer session to "try it on for size."
Here are the boys prior to checking in - the academy Chapel in background...
The building below is Bancroft Hall. It is THE dorm for all 4,400 midshipmen at USNA.
This is the interior of the main entrance to Bancroft Hall...
This is what a typical dorm room looks like (time 3 - 3 to a room)
Some pretty impressive buildings comprise the campus, better known as "The Yard."
Dahlgren Hall has been used for indoor marching, graduations, weapons training, basketball and more. It's quite impressive...
This is a shot of a few of the academic classroom buildings (math on right, science on left) from across The Yard...
The USNA Pool includes the platforms pictured at the far end - top level is 33 feet up, water is 17 feet deep. Prior to graduation, a midshipman must safely & successfully make the leap..
The academic deans and administration have some nice accomodations...
I did get one shot of Connor's company on their way to their first-day formation.
July 2007 - The family, including Greg, went to Washington, DC. We did the usual tourist things - visited the monuments, the memorials, the museums, the Capitol, pulled the kids off the fence at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue ...
Just the usual stuff that families do. On one of our "really long walks," (as the family called them) Greg found a potential new employer...
On the night of July 4th, we ventured down to the Mall and took a seat in front of the Lincoln Memorial, waiting for the fireworks.
and when the show started, we had a front row seat...
While there, the kids caught up with friends, while Chuck caught up with a friend from when they were kids... Bob Kenneally came for a visit - it was a quite a treat. But next time, it's OUR treat, Bobby...
Our evening included some beverages....
and the restaurant atop the Washington Hotel afforded a pretty impressive view....
Connor thought the house could use a little fixin' up, but it's one he might settle for...
Bob took us next door to the historical Willard Hotel, where even though the place reeked of money and plushness, Chuck and Bob decided that we never outgrow some things...
yes, those bannisters are nice & slippery, offering a first class ride!
